Somerville's Union Square has some major development going on at 197 Washington St., and a new coffee shop is in the mix. Well, a "Nu" coffee shop, really. Worcester-based Nu Café applied for a space in the new condo development, according to a city filing.
The proposed café will operate in 3,760 square feet on the first floor, with 120 seats. It will provided jobs for up to 30 employees and will serve sandwiches, salads, and smoothies, in addition to baked goods and coffee. Worcester's Nu Café serves certified organic coffee and touts the "real, whole fruits" used in its smoothies.
"We like to use the real stuff to help you feel good, naturally," Nu Café's website reads.
The Somerville café hours could be from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturdays, and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays.
