A restaurant planned for Kendall Square received the go-ahead on October 20, according to Cambridge Day. The Briar Group will open Launch in the building at 450 Kendall St., with the Cambridge Innovation Center incubator as a landlord.
Launch is reportedly a nod to the innovative startup nature of the Kendall Square neighborhood, and the restaurant itself will join in that spirit. The Briar Group signed a lease for the space on October 20 before a license commission meeting, where it was awarded a liquor license.
Tom Shea, director of operations for The Briar Group, presented plans for Launch that detailed the use of the restaurant and its lawn as forum and activity spaces for the surrounding community.
A proposed menu for Launch suggests a seafood-centric theme, including raw bar items and lobster dishes, plus possible weekend brunch, according to Cambridge Day. Non-seafood options could include croquettes, poutine, pork sandwiches, and quinoa salads. The restaurant's proposed operation hours are 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. seven days a week.
