A decades-old Chinese eatery in Arlington Center is closed for renovations and has some structural and culinary changes planned. Shanghai Village (434 Massachusetts Ave.) is adding a sushi bar to the center of its space and creating additional menu items, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.

"Not everyone wants just Chinese cuisine or just sushi, but here they can have both," Shanghai Village manager Andy Lian told the Arlington Advocate.

The restaurant already offers an extensive menu, but Lian said he wanted to give customers more options. He also mentioned the possibility of eventually adding more traditional Chinese food items.

Shanghai Village could reopen late this month or early November.
