Pressed opens this Sunday at 7 A.M. in Beacon Hill, says owner David Clendenin. The juice shop also offers paletas (popsicles) and a small menu of "largely plant-based" meals by executive chef Joya Carlton from Butcher's Daughter in New York. (Carlton was described as "a wizard of vegan cuisine" in a NY Daily News review in 2013.)
"Pressed is neither vegetarian or vegan," according to the website, "just clean, thoughtful and healthy eating. Pressed believes real food doesn't require a label."
Dishes include a jackfruit banh mi (spicy sweet jackfruit, cucumber, pickled carrots, bean sprouts, mixed greens, sesame, and fermented chile mayo, served on a baguette) and a superfood "sushi" (sweet potato, avocado, cucumber, burdock and yacon roots, and seasonal pickled vegetables with black rice and miso-ginger dipping sauce). On the liquid side, there are juices as well as "superfood shakes."
Pressed will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, beginning this Sunday, January 11.
