SOMERVILLE — BISq's opening is imminent, but in the meantime, plan for a Carolina-inspired whole hog roast at big sibling Bergamot. The event takes place from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14, featuring the hog, hushpuppies, cheddar grits, and more, plus live music. Beer and cocktails will be available for purchase; your $20 ticket covers "a plate of barbecue piled high and a few bucks for the band."
GROTON — This Wednesday, January 7, The Herb Lyceum makes an appearance on Top Chef, and owner David Gilson and his son Will Gilson (Puritan & Co.) will host a viewing party and dinner. Since the episode centers around Julia Child, the younger Gilson has made a Child-inspired menu for the dinner, which begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $75; BYOB. Reservations required; call 978-448-6499.
DAVIS SQUARE — Get an intro to agave varietals with a mezcal class at Saloon, kicking off the bar and restaurant's winter series of spirits classes led by beverage director and "resident malt man" Manny Gonzales. Tickets are $35, and the mezcal class takes place on Tuesday, January 20 at 7 p.m.
UNION SQUARE — Bronwyn continues its new "Industry Prototype Nights" series every Tuesday night this month, 10 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. (bar until 1 a.m.) with a special drink and cocktail for $10 each, with additional beer specials available ($12/liter, $20/boot). Tomorrow, January 6, the featured dish is the Bosnian burek, a layered and rolled pastry stuffed full of ground pork, roasted apples, and spices, topped with a tangy sour cream called kajmak. Later in the month, watch for Hungarian palacsinta, giant bockwurst, and more.
