Ellie and RJ Tiglao have been popping up around town since August 2014, hosting monthly Filipino dinners at a variety of locations. Their next event, "a Filipino surf and turf," will be held at Cafenation in Brighton on February 21. "We promise a meal like you wouldn't have anywhere else in Boston!" they write on their event page — and that's probably fairly true, as Boston is almost entirely devoid of Filipino food, aside from JnJ Turo Turo in Quincy.
The event includes four courses, from soup (sinigang — pork, shrimp, spinach, and tomatoes in a tamarind-based broth) to dessert (pampanga halo-halo — "a colorful, iconic Filipino dessert inspired by Razon's of Guagua.") Tickets are $60, which includes bubbly to start, as well as another drink.
