Chatime, a Taiwanese bubble tea chain, has been steadily expanding in Boston, opening two Chinatown locations and another near Northeastern since launching in the area in March 2014. Next up, a location will open at 251 Newbury Street this Friday, January 16, according to a press release, which describes the upcoming Back Bay spot as the local "flagship." Locations near Boston University, at Assembly Row, in Malden, and at the Wrentham Outlets are also in the works.

The Chatime menu offers a variety of tea-based beverages that customers can opt to enhance with tapioca pearls and several different jellies. Each beverage also has a customizable amount of sugar and ice.

In honor of the grand opening, the new store will offer a buy-one-get-one-free special January 16-18.
