CAMBRIDGE — In celebration of its 75th anniversary, Savenor's did a complete renovation of its Cambridge shop, which reopened earlier this month. On Saturday, October 4, there will be an official grand opening celebration. Stop by between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.; there will be vendor demos, samples, and a raffle for an autographed copy of Julia Child's The Art of French Cooking. Between 2 and 3 p.m., owner and master butcher Ron Savenor will demonstrate breaking down a whole lamb. [Eaterwire]
KENDALL SQUARE — On Sunday, October 5, West Bridge hosts the second annual Chefs Collaborative dinner, featuring six New England chefs: Matthew Gaudet of West Bridge; Evan Hennessey of Stages in Dover, New Hampshire; Matt Louis of Moxy in Portsmouth, New Hampshire; James Mark of North in Providence, Rhode Island; Josh Smith of Moody's Delicatessen & Provisions in Waltham; and Cara Stadler of Tao Yuan in Brunswick, Maine. Tickets are $70. [Eventbrite]
DOWNTOWN CROSSING — Tonight is Josh Childs' last shift as a bartender; catch him at Silvertone to say goodbye. While he'll still be very much involved in the operation of Trina's Starlite Lounge, Audubon, and Silvertone, a couple of rotator cuff surgeries have convinced him to retire from the bartending side of things. Patrick Maguire of I'm Your Server Not Your Servant has compiled a very nice collection of stories about Childs from industry folks who have gotten to know him over the years. [SNS]
