It's opening day for Legal on the Mystic, the latest Legal Sea Foods offshoot, following in the same vein as other one-off concepts like Legal Crossing and Legal Oysteria. The casual restaurant occupies 7,100 square feet at Somerville's Assembly Row, a retail and residential development that has been opening in phases over the past few months. Legal on the Mystic has ample bar seating for 90, surrounded by a dining room for 114, and there's also a 36-seat patio on the Mystic River (hence the restaurant's name).
Executive chef Rich Vellante and restaurant chef Shane Queiros head up the team, serving a mix of small plates for sharing, salads, sandwiches, pizzas, tacos, and some recognizable Legal "classics." The restaurant serves lunch and dinner every day — 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday. Here's a look at the menu. (The first two pages are lunch, the next two are dinner, and the final page is dessert.)
