Eat Mala Xiang Guo in Allston

The Hong Kong Supermarket in Allston now has a new stall in its food court. Chilipa has opened in the former One of the Kind space, reports Boston Restaurant Talk.

According to the restaurant's website, the specialty is mala xiang guo, spicy bowls of various vegetables and meats. In fact, diners pick their own components from a buffet-style set-up and then watch as it's all cooked together to the level of spiciness of their choice. ("My way! My pot!" declares the website.) Options include noodles, a variety of mushrooms, tripe, pig blood cake, octopus, lobster balls, and lots more.

Chilipa is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
