Devra First drops one-and-a-half stars (between "fair" and "good") on Parla, a fairly new "speakeasy" in the North End. "The space is too small to hold all of its ambitions," she writes. "With more than two dozen drinks, the cocktail list feels as though it belongs to a much larger bar. Dishes feature many unusual ingredients, in such small amounts it's hard to taste them." Highlights include arancini ("a simple success"), the "tasty" octopus ("tender and fresh"), and the striped bass ("cooked perfectly.") [BG]
