A restaurant called Cunard Tavern is in the works for the Jeffries Point neighborhood in East Boston, and it appears to be the previously reported upcoming project from Phil Frattaroli of Ducali. According to Cunard Tavern's new Facebook page, the restaurant is slated for 24 Orleans Street, which refers to the same building as 47 Webster Street, the address given in previous news about Frattaroli's project. The building used to house his grandparents' wood shop.
Based on a photo posted on Ancestry.com, it seems like a restaurant by the same name used to reside in the same space, at least in 1966.
No word yet on a concept aside from a "gastropub" categorization on Facebook. The page also notes that the restaurant is "coming soon." There's a nautical theme to the logo, but it's not yet clear if that indicates a seafood-focused concept or just the proximity of the neighborhood to water. Stay tuned for more.
