Benefit at Redbones Tonight; Mexican Pop-Up Friday

DAVIS SQUARE — Tonight, Redbones hosts its 13th annual Pig Pickin' Benefit for the Somerville Homeless Coalition. It takes place outside on Chester Street from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and includes a beer garden, a whole hog, and live music. Admission is free; purchase alcohol and food on site with a cash bar and meals ranging from $10-$13 per person ($5 for kids). [FB]

CAMBRIDGE — Savenor's Cambridge location is now closed for a major renovation "into a modern neighborhood butcher shop with meat cut to order and glass fronted service cases." It's slated to reopen on September 2. The Beacon Hill location remains open. [FB]

UNION SQUARE — Somerville's Kitchen Inc. is hosting a Mexican pop-up restaurant this Friday evening, August 1. Tu Y Yo alum Estela Calzada will be preparing four courses, from a 40-ingredient mole (including four different types of Taza chocolate) to a mezcal flan.
