Joe Bono, a North End restaurateur behind Benevento's and Al Dente, wants to open a pizzeria in the space of an old neighborhood favorite, Circle Pizza, which closed in 2000. NorthEndWaterfront.com reports on the news and provides video of a neighborhood council meeting discussing it.
Pending negotiations with the former owners, the new restaurant may be called Circle Pizza as well. It would have 40 seats plus a dining counter, and Bono and co-owner Warren Mustacchio would seek a beer, wine, and cordials license. Since 2000, the space at 361 Hanover Street has housed flower shops — most recently, 1-800-Flowers. The North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council has given its unanimous support to the proposal.
