Gracie's Ice Cream Aiming for Late Summer Opening

Gracie's Ice Cream is opening in the former Sherman Market space in Union Square, as previously reported, and now Boston Magazine shares a few new details, including an opening timeline: late summer. Look for it in the end of August or early September. (Sherman Market's sister cafe remains open right around the corner from the soon-to-be ice cream shop.)

The project is a collaboration between Sherman Cafe owner Ben Dryer and Eat Boston founder Aaron Cohen (no relation to Eater Boston). Both have worked at ice cream shops before and know who the strong competitors in the area are, like Toscanini's in Central Square and Christina's in Inman Square. "We're well aware of the threshold we're trying to meet," Cohen tells Boston Magazine. Expect traditional flavors as well as some less traditional, even incorporating vegetables. There'll also be frappes and smoothies.
