Legal Oysteria opens today at 4 p.m. in the 4,400-square-foot former Olives space in Charlestown, serving a seafood-focused menu that's meant to reflect what Legal Sea Foods' executive chef Rich Vellante likes to serve to family. There's a small pizza selection (margherita, roasted clam, sopressata), some pastas, small plates (various fritters, oysters, olives), and entrees ranging from sausages stuffed with truffle cheese to Ligurian fish stew. Like the recently opened Legal Crossing in Downtown Crossing, this is the latest one-off concept to spawn from Legal Sea Foods. The next, Legal on the Mystic, should open later this summer at Somerville's Assembly Row.
Legal Oysteria's wine list is almost exclusively Italian and Spanish, with a few flights available ("red wine with fish," for example). A small cocktail list is big on bubbles, bitters, and sodas, and there are a few beers as well, from Bud Light to Jack's Abby Hoponius Union.
The restaurant is open 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. daily with food served until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 10 p.m. the rest of the week. A late-night menu will launch soon, as will weekend lunch. Here's a look at the dinner and dessert menus, as well as the wine, cocktails, and beer.
