Saladworks, a Philadelphia-based fast-casual chain offering salads, sandwiches, and the like, is in the midst of a big explosion of franchises, and at least one Boston location is slated to open this fall, according to a press release. There's currently one local outpost in the food court at the CambridgeSide Galleria.

While there are some pre-designed combos, the focus is on choosing all the salad components yourself, from a few different lettuce options to vegetables, dry toppings, meats, and dressing. There are also "focaccia fusions," which are "more than a sandwich" — they are sandwiches served on focaccia. Saladworks has over 100 locations in the United States, mostly concentrated on the East Coast, and a few new outposts overseas in Singapore, Dubai, and Qatar.
