Cakeology Has Apparently Closed

Cakeology, a Downtown Crossing bakery that moved to a larger storefront back in September, has apparently closed, although it's unclear if the closure is permanent. A tipster tried to visit three times over the last couple of weeks, finding it closed every time. The sign listing store hours disappeared between two of her visits, and a voicemail she left was never returned. Today, the store number still goes to voicemail, and the shop's entire web presence has disappeared.

Two Yelp reviews from June 16 also note that the shop has closed, and one customer received an email from Groupon refunding a recent deal and confirming the closure. The other customer complained that her prepaid order was not filled and that she was never notified that the shop was closing. Owner Victoria Donnelly replied to that customer, saying that they "contacted everyone who had orders already placed and either honored the order or provided a full refund," but she gave no information about the future of the shop.

Cakeology launched as a mobile cupcake delivery service in June 2010 before opening a brick-and-mortar location at 45 Province Street, later keeping that space as a bakery and opening up the new storefront at 290 Washington Street.
