Lone Star Taco Bar Will Bless Cambridge with Its Presence

A few months ago, an Inman Square bartender let a tantalizing rumor slip: Lone Star Taco Bar, the popular Allston sibling and neighbor of Deep Ellum, was looking at space in the neighborhood. Lone Star kept mum on the topic, but now Boston Restaurant Talk reports, via licensing info, that the expansion does appear to be taking place. The licensing hearing agenda states that Lone Star is seeking to transfer the full liquor license from Lizzy's on Cambridge Street — and no other address is mentioned, giving the impression that Lone Star would be taking over the Lizzy's space (635 Cambridge Street). Lizzy's closed temporarily in early 2013 but has been open again for the last year or so.

Lone Star opened in early 2012, serving tacos, chili, nachos, tostadas, and the like. A year in, Eater chatted with co-owners Aaron Sanders and Max Toste about where the concept came from. There are a lot of Southern roots and love of Mexican food at big sibling Deep Ellum, and tacos began appearing at staff meal. "We'd basically sit around here and be like, 'Damn, you can't get this shit in Boston. You can't get tacos like this,'" said Toste.
