Foundry on Elm, a perpetually busy Davis Square restaurant that describes its offerings as "fine food & proper ale," is welcoming a new executive chef, Alex Jenkins. The Kentucky native has been in and out of Boston in the past, with stints at the Algonquin Club, West Side Lounge in Cambridge, and the Ritz-Carlton. Most recently, she was back in Kentucky at an artsy restaurant and music venue called Natasha's Bistro & Bar.
As is de rigueur these days, she's passionate about local sourcing and aims to strengthen Foundry's relationships with local growers and producers. Her new menu items include grilled Korean bulgogi wings with Asian pear sauce and a bourbon-brined pork chop with smoked paprika, bacon balsamic reduction, red grapes, and Great Hill blue potatoes.
