The Abbey Opens Tonight in Cambridge

Photo: The Abbey, Cambridge/Facebook

The Abbey has been pleasing the increasingly food-oriented Washington Square in Brookline for nearly four years now, offering up classy comfort food and a well-stocked bar. Co-owners Damian Dowling and Josh Sherman are both alums of the (very) nearby Washington Square Tavern. Now, they're expanding The Abbey across the river, taking over the former Addis Red Sea space on the outskirts of Porter Square. The new restaurant opens today. (An exact time depends on how fast they get everything stocked up, according to a note on Facebook, so keep an eye on their social media channels [Facebook, Twitter, Instagram] for the official announcement.)

If the menu looks like its big sibling in Brookline, expect dishes like bison bolognese over linguini, steak frites, and lamb lollipops. On the beer side, look for a large selection of local bottles, other domestic selections, and a few from overseas. Also, lots of scotch. Once regular hours start up, The Abbey's Cambridge outpost will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
