Taiwanese Dinner at Shojo; Townsman Aiming for Oct. 1

HUB-WIDE — Serious Eats has posted a thoroughly detailed guide to the best Chinese food around Boston, focusing on numerous regions and styles of the cuisine. For Sichuan, for example, head out to Fuloon in Malden ("Chef Zhang Wenxue's ma po tofu is some of the best you'll taste anywhere"), while the best Cantonese seafood can be found at Peach Farm in Chinatown ("the real draw...live fish and shellfish that are no sooner plucked from the water than they appear on your plate.") GREENWAY — A tiny update on Matt and Kate Jennings' upcoming restaurant Townsman — it'll open on October 1, and the space is 4,500 square feet. Update: A rep for Townsman says that the goal is "late 2014," not necessarily October 1. [BH via BRT]

CHINATOWN — Head to Shojo Monday night at 6 p.m. for a taste of Taiwan. Visiting Taiwanese chefs will prepare a five-course meal, including pork soup dumplings, an appetizer sampler, and a special cocktail. Tickets are $35. [Eventbrite]
