El Paisa, a Colombian restaurant in East Boston's Orient Heights, appears to have closed in the last month or so, but according to the restaurant's brand new Twitter account, it'll reopen this summer. No word on why it closed and whether it's undergoing renovations or any other major changes. UPDATE: The restaurant tells Eater that it is currently open — but will re-open in the early summer with "some exciting new changes."
The Twitter account lays claim to El Paisa serving the "best brunch in Boston," and a number of Yelpers do describe the brunch as "awesome," "great," and "out of control."
Back in 2008, MC Slim JB reviewed El Paisa for The Phoenix after hearing about it from a local cab driver originally from Colombia, and he found it "attractive, delicious, and a genuine bargain." Leaving with plenty of leftovers from the hearty meal, he concluded that "it's easy to see how a hardworking, homesick Colombian ex-pat might find high-value comfort here. We certainly did." Stay tuned for a re-opening date.
