Sound the trumpets: The 50 Eater Young Guns 2014 semi-finalists have been announced. (For the curious, here are some stats about the nominations Eater headquarters received this year.)
First, a recap on exactly what Eater Young Guns is, and then on to the semi-finalists. Each year, the Eater Young Guns designation is bestowed upon the most promising up-and-comers in the restaurant and nightlife world, from the front of the house to the back. Nominations were open to the public earlier this year with the criteria that nominees must either be under 30 years of age or have worked in the industry for less than five years, and they must be currently working in the industry (in the US or Canada).
Then, a committee of industry big-shots from Lidia Bastianich to Danny Meyer narrowed the list down to these 50 semi-finalists, whom you'll get to know in greater detail in the coming months. In June, the Eater Young Guns Class of 2014 will be announced.
