Precinct, a restaurant, bar, and music venue in Somerville's Union Square, closed in early February for what was supposed to be a month of renovations and a revamp into a more food-focused concept, without music. It still hasn't reopened, but construction has been ongoing. A peek into an open door earlier this week revealed that the place has been pretty much gutted. In March, it looked like the name would change to Local Branch, but now Boston Restaurant Talk is reporting that a restaurant named Brass Union seems poised to open in the same space based on a job posting.
Indeed, the former Precinct web address now redirects to the Brass Union website, which simply displays a "coming soon" message at the moment. According to the aforementioned job posting, Brass Union will open this month, and it will be "the ideal spot for a relaxing atmosphere with small plate dining and diverse cocktail list."
