Vegan donut lovers, rejoice: Union Square Donuts now has an option for you (but you have to wait until Saturday.) Co-owner Josh Danoff tells Eater that their brand new vegan donut is yeast-raised and made with coconut oil and coconut milk. ("You know, light and fluffy style," he adds.) There will be a rotating selection of glazes. Currently, it's a pineapple coconut glaze with candied ginger. The vegan donuts will only be available on Saturdays for the time being, when the shop is open from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Soon, Union Square Donuts will move into its very own space just a couple storefronts down from its current smaller, shared location on Bow Street, so keep an eye out for a reopening date in the coming months. But for now, the 16 Bow Street location remains open on Thursdays through Sundays every week.
