As rumored last week, Top Chef is indeed shooting its twelfth season right here in Boston. The Globe confirms the news with Jennifer Levy, Bravo's senior vice president of production, who noted that they'll shoot all around Boston and on the coast this spring and early summer. Fenway Park is unsurprisingly a possible location ("Sports culture will be fun inspiration," Levy told the Globe, so get ready for elevated Fenway Franks), and Plimoth Plantation is also a possibility.
In a press release, Bravo elaborates on the news with Shari Levine, SVP of Current Production, gushing that "Boston has always been at the top of [their] wish list" for a season of Top Chef "not only because of its rich historical significance, but also because of its robust and ever-growing culinary scene." Host Padma Lakshmi, head judge Tom Colicchio and judge Gail Simmons will all return, and Boston chefs and celebrities will serve as guest judges. (Think some Wahlbergs will show up?)
The Globe notes that some of those appearances could be by Top Chef-affiliated "Boston personalities," but no word yet on which ones. Locals who have previously been on the show include Tiffani Faison, Stephanie Cmar, Kristen Kish, and Michael Schlow (who was on Top Chef Masters). The season will premiere in the fall.
