WAN Convenience opened a decade ago in Mission Hill and transformed into Al's Deli, a sandwich shop with a cult following. When it closed suddenly earlier this year, many a tear was shed, but owner Al Niles hinted he'd be back elsewhere. Now, according to the shop's Facebook page, reopening day is almost here. Niles will return at 11 a.m. this Thursday, May 1 in Allston, at 172 Brighton Avenue.
His legendary roster of sandwiches includes options like The Deathwich (steak, pork, turkey, bacon, cheese, spices, sauces, lettuce, and tomato) and The Orgasm (roast pork and roast beef with sauteed vegetables, melted cheese, honey mustard, lettuce, and tomato).
