O Ya's Tim and Nancy Cushman are opening restaurants and bars (two of each, it seems) in New York City's Park South Hotel, located in Midtown, according to a tipster, who adds that No. 9 Park alum Ted Kilpatrick will helm the bars. Neither O Ya nor Kilpatrick has confirmed the news, but sources in New York say that the deal is almost finalized, and Kilpatrick is already onsite. (His current Twitter bio: "Opening a couple bars in a hotel in midtown.") According to the sources in New York, there will be two restaurants: an O Ya and a separate hotel restaurant.
The Park South Hotel, an "elegant 1906 landmark," is currently undergoing "exciting transformations," according to its website. Those transformations involve food and beverage facilities. The hotel currently has a bar called The Black Duck, but "an intimate rooftop bar above The Park South Hotel will supplant the Black Duck bar when the hotel's sleek refashioning of guest rooms and restaurant/bar facilities is completed in the coming months."
Providing evidence that a Boston restaurant can hold its own in New York, Boston's latest expansion to the city, Toro, has been drawing in huge crowds since its opening in September and earned two stars ("very good") from The New York Times' Pete Wells.
