Dante de Magistris (of Restaurant dante in Cambridge and il Casale Cucina Italiana + Bar in Belmont) will open a third restaurant this spring, this time in Lexington: il Casale Cucina Campana + Bar. It's taking over the space (and liquor license) of Nourish at 1727 Massachusetts Ave.
Construction began in February, according to Boston.com's Restaurant Hub blog, and de Magistris and his brothers Filippo and Damian are aiming for a spring opening. The focus will be on Italy's Campania region, located in the south, and particularly its capital, Naples. (The cuisine at Belmont's il Casale spans more of Italy and focuses on recipes from the de Magistris' grandmother.)
During Pizza Week 2014, Dante de Magistris told Eater that he was working on a stuffed, fried pizza for the new location. It could be stuffed with braised chicory, anchovies, pine nuts, raisins, then fried and served with two dipping sauces: lemon mascarpone and spicy roasted tomato puree.
