Changes in Store for barismo's Arlington Space

Changes are afoot for barismo, an Arlington-based coffee roaster that also has a coffee shop, dwelltime, in Cambridge. barismo is currently in the process of moving its roasting operations from Arlington over to Somerville's Union Square, in the new Aeronaut Brewing Company space, and as a result, the Arlington space will be revamped into something more like dwelltime. It'll get a new name as well, but contrary to what an April Fool's Day blog post from the company announced, it will not be dwelltime's Too, The Refined Pallet (reflecting a "love for reclaimed pallet wood that the coffee comes delivered on"), or swell time, although the latter is kind of fun.

Meanwhile, the new Somerville space will represent a return to the early days of barismo, a place where customers could come in and buy beans, learn about roasting, and chat about coffee. (It's not a coffee shop; you can't just go in and have a drink prepared.) "We want to get back to an experience where you can pick our brains and really get to as deep a level as you want to go about your coffee," writes barismo's Tim Borrego in a recent blog post. There will be tastings, events, classes, and more. "We hope to host a lot of serious coffee industry events and gatherings for the coffee community," writes Borrego. "Surely the lure of Somerville's new brewery can get even the most stubborn barista to come out to the space."
