"Modern Asian popup" Hutong Provisions has booked its first event — it'll pop up at Abigail's in Kendall Square on Monday, April 28, at 7 p.m. The four-course meal "will be based on the flavors and ingredients of mainland Asia (China, Vietnam, Thailand)." If there's enough interest, chef Jason "ZEN!!!" Tom might open up another seating and change it into a dim sum-style event. Tickets are $55 per person.
Tom's background includes stints at Stir, Island Creek Oyster Bar, East by Northeast, Chez Henri, and beyond. The Cambridge native has spent time living in Chicago and Maine but "developed a true love for the bold, intense flavors of the streets" while traveling through Europe, China, and Southeast Asia.
