The newest Tavern in the Square is now open, a 40-seat version of the growing chain that has locations in Porter Square, Central Square, Allston, and beyond. It's right in the middle of South Station, offering televisions, 32 beers on tap, and a smaller version of the menu that's available at the larger Taverns. It's open from 10am to 11:30pm daily.
The previous South Station drinking spot, Clarke's, closed in late 2012, and various reports indicate that the space will either be part of a new two-story CVS in the station — or an "airport-quality ladies' room." (Meanwhile, the existing bathrooms would become "an expanded high quality men's room.")
