Porcinegraph%20piece.jpgSlate's history blog, The Vault, takes a look at an interesting pork map ("porcineograph") commissioned in 1875 by William Emerson Baker, an eccentric Needham resident who made his money thanks to improving the mechanical sewing machine. The map includes "illustrations of disputes over pigs that changed American legal history" as well as celebrations of pork dishes particular to various regions. For Massachusetts: "Pork and Beans, Fish Balls, Brown Bread and Cranberry Sauce." [Slate]
