Franklin Southie transitions seamlessly into a preview of Moonshine 152 tonight. The Franklin menu will be served until 10 p.m., after which new owner Asia Mei debuts Moonshine 152 (and rings in the new year) with jello shots, free passed apps, and more. The new restaurant will officially open around February. While the Franklin Restaurant Group is saying goodbye to this piece of its mini-empire, more openings are reportedly on the horizon with "more Franklin Cafe-style restaurants in Boston" as well as more Tasty Burgers. Plus, there are still two other Franklin locations: the South End and Cape Ann.
"Join us on New Years Eve for one last Champagne of Beers," bids Mass Ave Tavern in Back Bay, officially closing up shop tomorrow. The landlord is renovating the building and declined to renew the lease of the foosball and pancake challenge destination.
And it's also the end of the road for Union Bar and Grille after today, according to Boston Restaurant Talk. It's part of the Aquitaine Group, which is retaining ownership of the space. They plan to open a new restaurant there with a different concept and a different name, possibly by April.
