SOUTH END — Oh, nothing to see here...just a doughnut grilled cheese sandwich. You may one day be able to eat this at The Gallows' upcoming sibling, Blackbird Doughnuts, which is aiming to open early this winter in the South End.
SOMERVILLE — There's some heavy roadwork going on around Beacon Street at Washington Street, and The Kirkland Tap & Trotter and Dali have both closed down early tonight because of it. As a result, Kirkland's typical Wednesday night $2 oyster special has been postponed until tomorrow (Thursday, December 4).
DOWNTOWN — The Tap Trailhouse's Sunday brunch is expanding to Saturdays, starting this very Saturday. There's a build-your-own bloody mary bar, and City Landing's Bill Brodsky collaborated on the New England-inspired menu, which includes dishes like brioche coffee milk-battered stuffed French toast (cranberry-berry compote, toasted almonds, whipped cream, maple syrup), New Englander Benedict (poached eggs, English muffin, venison chili, bacon, smoked tomato salsa, hollandaise), and lobster omelettes.
BEACON HILL — From now until December 23, No. 9 Park is offering weekday lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Diners can order a three-course menu ($52) or a five-course menu ($75 plus $45 for optional wine pairings). Guest bartenders will be making appearances; check the restaurant's Facebook page for announcements and call (617) 742-9991 for reservations.
