CONCEPT KITCHEN DINNER
A new pop-up group called Concept Kitchen is hosting its first dinner tomorrow night, December 3, near Harvard Square (learn the location when you buy a ticket), offering a five-course autumn menu that includes dishes like French-style pumpkin soup, sesame focaccia, and ginger pear crisp. TAMALE BREAKFAST
Tu y Yo alum Estela Calzada, a cooking instructor who hopes to open her own restaurant in the future, is hosting a breakfast pop-up event this Saturday, December 6, at Kitchen Inc. in Somerville's Union Square (201 Somerville Avenue). On the menu: homemade tamales (three different types), spiced Mexican coffee (with piloncillo, cinnamon, and orange zest), and hot holiday ponche (hibiscus tea punch with apples, tamarind, and cinnamon).
The tamale selection:
- Oxaquenos — chicken seasoned with yerba santa and chiles, wrapped in banana leaves
- Mole — chicken in a mole sauce
- Sweet Mexican chocolate
The event begins at 9 a.m. and lasts until everything is sold out. Attendees can get two tamales and a hot drink for $10 or individual tamales for $4 each.
