Barcelona Wine Bar quietly held a soft opening dinner service last night at its new South End outpost, located in the longtime Sibling Rivalry space, according to multiple tipsters and confirmed by a post on BosGuy's blog. He describes the ambiance a bit, from a large white marble bar to "dark wood ceilings and floors," a change from "the sterile modern decor of its predecessor."
This is the 10th location for the chain, which is mostly situated around Connecticut. A Brookline location opened almost a year ago and snagged a three-star (out of four) Globe review from James Reed, who called it a "top-notch addition to the neighborhood."
Barcelona Wine Bar serves a lengthy menu of tapas, as well as meat and cheese plates and large-format paella portions. The wine list heavily features Spain and Argentina, and there's a healthy selection of sherry. Beer and cocktails are also available.
No word yet on the official opening date, but it should be any day now. And if you're interested in working there, there's a job open house today and tomorrow. Note that the restaurant will not be open for dinner again tonight.
