East Boston Kitchen, a cozy restaurant in Eastie's Jeffries Point neighborhood, is closing down for the winter, according to a notice posted on its door and on Facebook:

"We are closing for the winter to reassess. Sorry for the short notice, but it would have been too sad to tell you all one by one. We thank you for all your support. We couldn't have done what we did without you."

The restaurant opened in early June after a more-than-five-year gestation period, serving prepared foods, soups, salads, baked goods, and more from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, focusing on locally-sourced ingredients. East Boston Kitchen also played host to a variety of pop-up dinners by different groups.
