Caffè Nero has cleared the last hurdle, receiving its common victualler license, and is now preparing to open at 733 Centre Street in Jamaica Plain, according to the Jamaica Plain News. This finally came despite some vocal opposition to the international chain, which now operates over 650 locations in seven different countries. The article went on to report that Caffè Nero "verbally agreed to several items in a 'Good Community Business Agreement' with the JP Neighborhood Council." One item in the agreement is a hiring preference for JP residents.

The first United States location of the chain opened here in Boston (in Downtown Crossing) this past spring and has been quite well received, at least in terms of Yelpers' opinions.
