Over a decade after opening in a very different South End dining scene, the Aquitaine Group's Union Bar & Grille will close at the end of 2014, reports BosGuy, noting that the group is retaining ownership of the space and will open a brand new restaurant there with a different name and concept, possibly as early as April 2015. On Chowhound, MC Slim JB notes that the Aquitaine Group has renewed the lease for the next ten years.
The Aquitaine Group also owns a few other South End spots — Cinquecento, Metropolis, Gaslight Brasserie du Coin — as well as multiple French bistros called Aquitaine around the Boston area.
