River Bar, the latest addition to the dining scene at Assembly Row, just opened last week. From a distance, the bar stands out with its sleek, geometric shape and all glass walls, setting itself apart from other buildings that surround it. Upon walking into the bar, it's hard not to be drawn immediately to the water views of the Mystic River that surround the space. The view is the focus, and the glass walls make every seat the best seat in the house. On one wall, craft liquors are on display and reach from the bar countertop up to the ceiling. A grand marble countertop surrounds the bar, and seats provide a welcome spot to take in a cocktail. Hanging above, a giant spider-like lamp provides illumination for the space.
To the other side of the room, an open kitchen is surrounded by a marble countertop that offers additional seating in metallic silver chairs. Behind the kitchen, there's a long table with wooden bar stools, and other bar tables and dining tables with woven leather seats are available, providing plenty of options.
Walking out into the spacious and grand patio, diners will find a second and larger bar ready for all cocktail needs, while wooden patio bar tables provide a spot to relax. The bar is surrounded by seating, and heat lamps are plentiful, providing warmth and allowing people to enjoy cocktails in the outdoors even on chillier days. The main attraction, besides the namesake water views, of course, is a set of brightly colored orange couches that surround a fire pit, providing the perfect retreat in the summer.
