CENTRAL SQUARE — At Thelonious Monkfish this Sunday, October 12, you can donate $5 to feed "zombie bits" to "live" "zombies" that will be chained to the patio from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. What this means exactly is a bit of a mystery, but proceeds will benefit Cambridge Jazz Festival's Johnny Hodges Fund, which provides music education and scholarships to Cambridge students. Accordingly, local college students will be playing live jazz at the event. There will also be raffle prizes, appetizers, and tastings of Dr. Thelonious’ Zombie Elixir, a brachetto sparking wine the restaurant made in collaboration with the Boston Winery. [Official Site]
EAST SOMERVILLE — La Brasa is now open on Mondays, and in celebration, there's a pig roast this coming Monday, October 13. Diners can pay $28 a piece for roasted pork with bang-bang sauce and some appropriate sides. And the following day, October 14, dollar oysters are available from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. [Eaterwire]
WELLESLEY — New restaurant Juniper, a sibling of Sweet Basil in Needham, has introduced late-night dining from 10 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday nights, offering a small bar menu (shakshouka, a lamb burger on an English muffin, and more), cocktails, and wine. Additionally, lunch has also been added to the mix Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., including sandwiches, mezze, and other options. [Eaterwire]
SOMERVILLE — Cuisine en Locale celebrates one year in its own space — and Dia de los Muertos — with a two-day extravaganza, ONCE Muertos. At 7 p.m. on November 1, there'll be a "Mass Mex" buffet full of pulled pork verde, Taza mole, and lots more, plus live entertainment by a mariachi band, Walter Sickert and the Army of Broken Toys, and other performers. On November 2 at 2 p.m., there's a taco brunch buffet and another performance by the toys. The November 1 event is $50 per person, and the November 2 event is $35 per person (and $10 for children under 12). [Eventbrite]
