J. Pace & Son Says Farewell to Original North End Location

Owner thanks neighborhood after forty years and three generations of service.

This coming week Italian grocer and caterer J. Pace & Son will be closing its original North End location after more than four decades at 42 Cross Street. In an open letter to the neighborhood posted on North End Waterfront, owner Joe Pace said, "I am thankful to an endless list of customers, organizations and communities that have contributed to my success. I thank you for what J. Pace & Son Inc. has become today. The North End is where my business began and for this I am sincerely grateful."

J. Pace & Son will maintain its three other locations in the West End, Southie, and Saugus. Pace has continued to grow J. Pace & Son after taking over the business started by his father Nicolo Pace in the 1960s and now operates alongside his own son, Joe Jr.
