Tuesday Lunches at the Lawn on D; Ana Sortun on Turkish Cuisine

A round-up of interesting things to read and upcoming events.

HUB-WIDE — The Globe's Gary Dzen explores the "assault of ingredients" (pumpkin, etc.) that begin to invade beers each autumn and chats with some locals about more subtle options. For example: "Brass Union beverage director Paulo Pereira keeps cloying beers off the menu," writes Dzen, "linking the subtle hints of pear in the Weihenstephaner Oktoberfestbier with a celery root soup and roasted chicken." HUB-WIDE — The Metro chats with Ana Sortun (Oleana, Sarma, Sofra) about her love of Turkish food. "I was pretty blown away by how sophisticated the food was," Sortun says, recalling her first time experiencing Turkish cuisine, "how the flavors were incredibly rich and deep and layered but nothing was heavy. For me, especially coming from a French-trained background, that was a complete revelation to me." [Metro]

SEAPORT DISTRICT — Spend your upcoming Tuesday lunch breaks at The Lawn on D between noon and 2 p.m. Tomorrow, October 14, The Taco Truck and Uyghur Kitchen will be there, followed by The Taco Truck, Roxy's Grilled Cheese, and Sheherazade on October 21 and Roxy's, Sheherazade and the Chicken & Rice Guys on October 28.
