It looks as if fans of Ernesto's pizza will have to wait just a bit longer for that first (giant) slice at Assembly Row. The 20-year-old North End favorite had originally hoped to open in the new Somerville development on October 11, but a Facebook post this past weekend noted that they were getting close. A representative told Eater it could be open sometime this week.
As previously reported, those who have enjoyed Ernesto's famously outsized slices in the North End can come to Assembly Row expecting the "exact same pizzas, same recipe, all the same toppings, same exact concept" as the original location, with two notable additions in Assembly Row: gluten-free pizza and smaller cheese slices (less than a quarter of a pizza) for kids.
