For the Globe's Cheap Eats section, James Reed is "eager for a great Mexican restaurant in this town, but...certainly won't tolerate a mediocre one," and El Centro Dos is sadly trapped in the latter category, he finds. It's "a shame" since the original location of El Centro in the South End reminds Reed "so much of the interesting restaurants [he] used to frequent when [he] lived in Xalapa, the capital of the Mexican state of Veracruz."
