Strega Will Plant a Steakhouse in Back Bay Next

Photo: Strega Waterfront/DDI

Strip by Strega — a steakhouse, a tongue twister, and most likely not a strip club — wants to take over the 6,900-square-foot space that used to be occupied by Whiskey Park, a bar that closed a few years ago. It could open this fall, according to the Boston Business Journal. Owner Nick Varano told the BBJ that the menu would be similar to the one at Strega Prime in Woburn. Varano also owns Strega Ristorante in the North End, Strega Waterfront (on the waterfront), and other restaurants. At least as of June, another Strega-related restaurant was in the works for the North End, Strega Pizzeria and Cafe on Hanover St. No word yet on whether that's still happening.

UPDATE: A weird, somewhat related piece of news — Zagat reports that Survivor has announced the cast for its 27th season. (That's not the actual news, but...27th season? Do people still watch?) Strega Waterfront head bartender LJ McKanas, who is also a horse trainer, will be competing.
