Here Comes MAST' Restaurant and Drinkery

...or just MAST', if you're feeling sassy, but don't forget that punctuation. According to a press release, the name "is derived from the Neapolitan slang term O'mast, meaning 'the master of one's craft.'" The restaurant (and "drinkery") is coming to the 45 Province luxury condo development in Downtown Crossing this spring, and it'll serve "a modern take on authentic, Neapolitan street food" for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, with the menu also "drawing from Southern Italian, Spanish, and Greek Fare, but with a twist of Old World, European influenced Bostonia." The restaurant was previously going to be called Strada 45, with a focus on wood-fired pizza.

There will be space for 120 seats indoors and 30 on a patio, and the people behind it — John DeSimone, Marco Caputo, and Anthony DePinto — are all new to the restaurant game. The designer, however, is a familiar face in the Boston restaurant scene — HGTV's Taniya Nayak, who has worked on Jason Santos' restaurants and others. Stay tuned for more.
