Pastoral, originally slated to open in Fort Point in early summer and more recently in September, is now aiming for mid-December. Chef/owner Todd Winer told Boston.com's Restaurant Hub blog that he has run into a contractor issue but is looking forward to getting "back on track." He also spilled some menu details: there'll be up to a dozen pizzas (and gluten-free options), homemade pastas, and small plates (look for chicken wings and squid), and in a "country, rustic" fashion, most items will only include a few ingredients. Also, there will be beer (and beer-based cocktails) — twenty taps' worth, with a focus on micro and craft brews.
For those wood-fired pizzas, Pastoral brought in a gorgeous red pizza oven, and Winer completed a three-day course in Neapolitan pizza-making from the official US and Canadian branch of the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, which faithfully governs Neapolitan pizza. And in other Fort Point wood-fired pizza news, you'll also have to wait a little bit longer for Mario Batali's restaurant to open. Like, forever.
